#TBT to FIVB Gstaad 2018: Crabb and Gibb

Dear Readers~

My next #TBT blog will cover the 2018 FIVB Gstaad 5 star results of Jak Gibb and Taylor Crabb. Now it's time to begin.

On July 11, 2018 Crabb and Gibb had their first and also second matches of the 2018 FIVB Gstaad Open in Gstaad, Switzerland. Because they decided to attend the FIVB stop, they had to miss the 2018 AVP San Francisco Open.

Gibb is up for the block as Crabb is ready to defend the court. Don't forget to follow them on Instagram for more moments like this: @jakesgibb and @tcrabbs

On July 11th the pair's first game of the day and the tournament was against Italy. The pair won with a score of 2-1. They lost the first set 15-21 but came back to win the second set at 21-17 and also win the third set at 15-12.

Later that day, the pair played fellow Americans and Rio 2016 Olympians, Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena. The score ended 2-1. Crabb and Gibb lost the first set 22-24 but came back to win the second set 21-17 as well as winning the third set 15-13. All of the sets were very close.

Their next game was on July 13, 2018 against the Netherlands. The pair won that game at 2-0 due to an injury happening to one of the Dutch players.

Later that day, they played Latvia and won 2-1. They won the first set 21-17 but lost the second set 19-21. After the third and final set, the pair won with a score of 15-13. All 3 sets ended up being very close like their game against Dalhausser and Lucena.

July 14,c2018 had their final two games of the tournament. Their first game was against Norway and their second game was against Italy.

Their game against Norway ended up being 1-2 with the Norwegianswinning. The pair won the first set 21-17 but lost the second and third sets by only a few points. The second set ended with 21-23 and the third set ended 14-16. In the end, Crabb and Gibb lost to the Norwegians.

Later that day, the pair would play their final game of the tournament and it would be against the Italians, the same Italians that they beat during their very first game of the tournament. This time the pair weren't so lucky. This game was to see who would get bronze. The pair came short by getting a final score of 1-2. The pair did good during the first set by winning 21-17 but weren't as lucky during the second set by losing 16-21. After this tie, they had a third set. The game was very close with the score ending 18-20 with the Italians winning. For those who don't know, the third set is first to 15 but with the two point rule, the winner must beat their opponent by 2 or more points, which is why the score is so high for a third set. After this, Crabb and Gibb would leave Gstaad with a 4th place finish. I hope you found this summary of Taylor Crabb and Jake Gibb's results from Gstaad interesting and informative. Until next time, Miller out.
