The latest #TBT covers the finals of the 2018 AVP Hermosa Beach Open.
On July 29, 2018 it was the final day of the 2018 AVP Hermosa Beach Open. The three pairs that have been talked about are Jake Gibb with Taylor Crabb, Geena Urango with Caitlin Ledoux, and April Ross with Alix Klineman. Ross and Klineman were the only athletes to play two games on Day 3 while the other four played just one game.
Ross and Klineman's first game was the semifinals against Ledoux and Urango. The game lasted 69 minutes. The first set was in favor of Ross and Klineman winning 21-14. The second set was in favor of Urango and Ledoux winning 21-18. With each team having each won a set, they had a third set. the third set ended with Klineman and Ross winning 15-9. With Klineman and Ross winning the game, the pair move on to the finals to face Summer Ross and Sara Hughes while Ledoux and Urango are out of the tournament.
Crabb and Gibb's game on Day 3 was the semifinals against Theo Brunner and John Hyden (1). The game lasted for a total of 67 minutes. Crabb and Gibb lost the first set 23-21 but came back to win the second set 21-18. With each team having won a set, they played a third set. Crabb and Gibb would end up losing 12-15 in that third set.
Ross and Klineman's second game of Day 3 was the women's finals against Summer Ross and Sara Hughes (1). April and Summer are not related. The finals lasted for a total of 88 minutes. The first set was in favor of Klineman and A. Ross with 21-19. The second set wasn't as successful as it ended 19-21 with Hughes and S. Ross winning. With each team having won a set, a third set happened. That third set ended with Klineman and A. Ross losing 15-17. That score made April Ross and Alix Klineman the second place winners while Sara Hughes and Summer Ross won the 2018 women's AVP Hermosa Beach Open. On the guy's side, the winners were Theo Brunner and John Hyden, who played against Crabb and Gibb in the semifinals.
