Stanford vs Minnesota WVB 12-19-19 Semifinal #2

Dear Readers~

On Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 6:30 pm Pacific Time, or 8:30 pm Central Time, the second semifinal happened between Stanford and Minnesota there in Pittsburg to see who would be in the finals for a chance to win the national championship and who's season would end only 1 game away from the championship. Now it's time to cover the game.

The first set ended at 25-19 with Stanford taking that set. The second set ended at 25-22 with Stanford also taking  that set. With Stanford up 2 sets to Minnesota's none, the Minnesota team had to step it up in this third set. The third set would later end with a score of 25-22 with Stanford taking that set and sweeping Minnesota to end their season while Stanford would play for the national championship just a few days later.

Now it's time to cover the top athlete of each category during the game. The leader in kills goes to Stanford's Kathryn Plummer, with 26, while Stephanie Samedy had 13 kills of her own for Minnesota. The leader in digs was Stanford's Morgan Hentz, with 23, while CC McGraw had 17 digs of her own for Minnesota. The leader in blocks was a tie at 5. Both Stanford's Jenna Gray and Minnesota's Taylor Morgan each had 5 blocks when the game was over. The leader in assists was Stanford's Jenna Gray, with 41, while Kylie Miller led Minnesota with 32 assists of her own.

That concludes my latest blog covering the second semifinal of the national championship tournament. Don't forget to tune in next week to see if Stanford can defend their 2018 title and win it two years in a row or if Wisconsin can end their season with a win. Until next time, Miller out.
