Dear Readers~

On Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 7 pm Pacific Time, the #9 USC Trojans hosted the #10 BYU Cougars in a game of men's indoor volleyball at the Galen Center there in Los Angeles, California. With USC coming off of 3 previous wins, with 2 of those 3 happening at home, USC was hoping to go 4 wins in a row and have a home record go from 9-0 to 10-0. BYU has lost 3 of their last 3 games so they wanted a win against USC and they also wanted to be the first team to beat USC at USC. Now it's time for the game.

The first set ended 25-20 with USC taking the first set. After working harder in the second, the score ended 25-22 with USC taking that set as well. Going into the 3rd set BYU knew that if they wanted to stay in this game they had to win the next set. The third set would end with a score of 25-21. At the end of the set, USC walked away victorious with a 3-0 sweep of BYU and are now 10-0 at home while BYU just got their 4th straight loss of the season.

Now it's time for the results of the top players for each category. Kills was led by USC's Gianluca Grasso and Jack Wyett, each with 11 kills for USC, while Gabi Garcia Fernande led BYU with 9 kills of his own. The leader in aces was USC's Gianluca Grasso, with 2 aces, while David Gardini, Alex Ah Sue, and Zach Eschenberg each got 1 ace a piece for BYU. The leader in blocks was USC's Sam Lewis, with 7, while Felipe de Brito Ferr led BYU with 3 blocks of his own. BYU's Brody Earnest led in assists with 32, while USC's Chris Hall wasn't far behind with 31 assists of his own. The leader in digs was a tie with each team's leader getting 8 digs each. They were Matt Douglas, of USC, and Zach Hendrickson, of BYU.

The next game for both teams won't be until Thursday, April 4, 2019 with BYU playing at 7 pm Mountain Time and USC playing at 7 pm Pacific Time. BYU travels to Phoenix, Arizona to take on GCU while USC travels to Malibu, California to take on Pepperdine.

As many of you may know, lots of AVP players went to, and even played volleyball for, USC. The two former Trojans I'll be talking about are Riley and Maddison Mckibbin. If you've seen my blog when USC traveled to play UCI in a game of men's indoor volleyball you'll remember that I talked about how Maddison won the 2017 AVP San Francisco Open with former UCI student athlete, Ty Loomis. If you've seen any of my blogs covering BYU volleyball, you'll know that a certain Olympian went there. That man is Casey Patterson. What some of y'all might not know is that Casey teamed up with Riley and Maddison to do a video for the Mckibbin's YouTube channel. That video was titled "Top 5 Hand Setting Tips for Beach Volleyball" If you'd like to watch Casey talk about what he does very well, click the link below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M61cOZFl_aI so make sure to check that out and also if you haven't already subscribed to their YouTube channel, make sure to do that. Don't forget to follow them on Instagram: @riley_mack4, @caseypatt, and @Maddison.Mckibbin to keep up with their fun adventures. Until next time, Miller out
